About Me, Jes Weidemann, CPDT-KA

Hi! My name is Jessica (Jes) Weidemann and I am the owner and head trainer of Phantom Dog Training.

After graduating from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in Animal Science and Minor in Marine Biology, I took my love for studying behaviors to dog training. I continued my education by completing my certification through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers as a Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed. I am also a Fear Free Certified Professional Dog Trainer and have my Pet CPR certification.

The certification above all support my values of safety and care for each animal I involve myself with. I only utilize positive reinforcement when training dogs as I believe this is the most effective and reinforcing method for both the dogs and humans involved.

As per my motto, I believe empathy plays a huge role in the productivity of dog training. Each dog, just like humans, have an emotional and mental side that we must connect with in order to build a great reinforcement history and relationship with. Whether your are looking to build your pup’s foundational skills or work on behavioral modification, connecting with your dog on a deeper level and utilizing positive reinforcement will have the greatest impact on your dog.

I look forward to building a relationship with you and your dog when you are ready!

About Phantom, my inspiration

Phantom might’ve been a big goofball and a moody man, but he was the gentlest soul. Growing up, I had a lot of small animals of my own and fosters, including hamsters and bunnies. I taught Phantom that these were family by teaching him impulse control around them. He was always very gentle and caring towards each small animal in our house and would only “taste” them, as we taught him only a lick or two is fine. He was very tolerant and would allow the hamsters to crawl on him and in his space on his bed.

Phantom loved many things, including Wendy’s four for fours, ice cream, walks, saying hello to anyone walking by as he knew no strangers, and many more. He also knew a lot of fun little tricks that we taught him over the years, including to wipe his own paws after coming in from outside, alerting us for when he had to go outside, “home pup” instead of paw, and “gentle” for taking treats and food with his front teeth so politely.

Being my childhood dog and living for 16.5 years of my life, he helped me through some important milestones. He shaped who I am as a dog trainer and taught me that empathy and emotions can be communicated through humans and animals.

I look forward to continuing Phatom's legacy by connecting with you and your dog during custom training sessions to meet your goals.
